A mechanic died after he was run over by an aircraft tug at Hongqiao airport on Tuesday morning.
The China Eastern Airlines mechanic was hit after the vehicle had pushed an Airbus 330 passenger aircraft onto the taxiway.
He was immediately sent to hospital but pronounced dead, the Shanghai-based carrier said in a statement.
Video footage showed the mechanic walking away from the aircraft when the vehicle suddenly accelerated and hit him from the back.
The carrier said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
