Macau-funded enterprises in Hengqin New Area in Zhuhai, southern Guangdong Province, numbered 3,003 as of August 25 with registered capital of 85 billion yuan (US$12 billion), accounting for nearly 60 percent of local foreign-funded enterprises, according to the official website of Zhuhai government.

There are 819 new Macau-funded enterprises, up more than 130 percent year on year, over the past eight months, while new registered capital increased by 240 percent to 9.98 billion yuan.

The Hengqin New Area Bureau of Industry & Commerce has set up a service system with Macau banks to guide cross-border business registrations for Macau investors. A Guangdong-Macau Industry & Commerce Service Center, jointly built by the bureau and Guangdong & Macau Federation of Industry & Commerce, has assisted 155 Macau investors since its establishment in January. The registration process went online during the COVID-19 outbreak.

To date, 95 Hong Kong and Macau enterprises have established cross-border offices in Hengqin. Four have obtained business licenses to operate in Hengqin with Macau qualifications, while Macau social workers, tour guides and construction professionals are also allowed to practice in Hengqin.
