Honor will maintain growth
Honor, a consumer electronics brand from Huawei targeting young buyers, plans to maintain sales growth with upgraded AI-featured chips and aggressive pricing from 1,500 yuan (US$220), Shanghai Daily learned on Wednesday.
The new Honor 9X may surpass booming sales of the previous Honor 8X models. It brought the company 10 million sales within 173 days since its debut, a record of best-selling smartphones in a short period.
The new Honor 9X series models feature artificial intelligence processor Kirin 810 developed by Huawei, bezel-less screen and 48-mega-pixel camera with improved night photography performance.
More than 1,000 engineers work on the Kirin 810 processor for about 36 months, with new AI upgrade and algorithm improvement. It’s the “best” in the similar price range, Zhao Ming, president of Honor.
The models, starting sales from July 30, costs from 1,399 yuan, a competitive price compared with rivals like Xiaomi.
In the overseas markets, Honor’s sales have been “back to warm” now after influences of US tech sanctions on Huawei, said Zhao.
Zhao also mentioned that the company is prepared for kicking off new 5G phones, scheduled to debut in the fourth quarter.
Besides smartphones, Honor also launched new laptop and wristband products in an event in Xi’an city in West China.

A fan of Honor posted in front of the conference hall in Xi'an city, where Honor launched new products.
