Celebrating Shanghai-Istanbul ties
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Istanbul and Shanghai’s sistership, a Turkey photography exhibition, titled “Timeless City: Istanbul & Faces,” is under way at the Shanghai Art Collection Museum through December 18.
As an important hub connecting Europe and Asia, Istanbul has played a significant role in the ancient Silk Road.
Shanghai and Istanbul have bonded closely over the last three decades since the establishment of sister cities in 1989.
The exhibition features 30 black-and-white photos captured by well-known Turkish photographer Mustafa Dedeoglu.
As a majestic silhouette remained unchanged forever, Istanbul has displayed wisdom over hundreds of years and has been home to many cultures for centuries.
The 42-year-old photographer focuses on the distinctive historical quarters and the atmosphere that permeates in Istanbul. His work also pays tribute to its inhabitants as well, with well-defined portraits.
