Shanghai courts have finished 2,464 cases involving the “Belt and Road” countries and regions in five years, according to Shanghai Higher People’s Court.

The Belt and Road Initiative was proposed by China in 2013 as a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe and Africa. Due to increasingly close ties between China and these countries, disputes related to contract, insurance and transport have become a problem, the court said.

Of 2,462 such cases dealt with by local courts from October 2013 to September this year, many involved South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia.
