Qingpu District has stepped up inspections across the region as the China International Import Expo is approaching.

The district official divided the 5.9 square kilometers core region into eight sections connected with the big data platform established by the district. Each section has been deployed with three groups of officers to make sure they can monitor the safety around the clock.

“All problems spotted in the sections will be immediately uploaded to the platform so that we can act in no time,” said Wang Jian from the district urban management bureau.

On Friday, an inspection team led by Deputy Director of Qingpu Xia Kejia found some furniture shops on Xiewei Road placed goods on sale on the sideway.

Wang’s team soon came to the site and cleared the furniture out with the shop owners.

The once stinky and black Xiaolaigang River which runs near the expo venue is now clear and free of pollution.

According to the water authority of the district, two pump stations were expanded and upgraded to treat the water.

More than 18 kilometers of overhead cables in the district have been buried underground.

“Qingpu is well prepared to welcome the guests to the CIIE,” said Zhao Huiqin, director of the district.
