Jade carving, silk embroidery and Thangka painting are among the masterpieces of Chinese craftsmanship on display in the newly opened Baoku Jiangxin Art Center with free admission.
The center opened in August on the 38th floor of Shanghai Tower, the city’s tallest building. It exhibits a wide range of China’s craftsmanship, with many of the items listed as intangible cultural heritages.
To introduce more visitors to the country's culture, the center offered free visits for a year from Sunday to residents .
“We hope to offer a chance for residents to experience the charm of our craftsmanship,” said Liu Feiguo, founder of Baoku China. “We hope Baoku can be a cultural brand and help to boost the city’s cultural development.”
A variety of cultural activities such as lectures and DIY workshops will be held over the year.
“Pudong is aiming to build itself the cultural highland and the aim can’t be achieved without the involvement of market entities,” said Wang Hongzhou, head of Pudong’s publicity department.
