Volunteers working at hotels serving foreign visitors to the China International Import Expo have been getting extra training from the police.

Hongkou District’s exit-entry police are coaching the volunteers, all university students, on China's exit-entry rules.

A deal was signed between the police, Xianda College of Economics and Humanities of Shanghai International Studies University and Hyatt on the Bund on Wednesday, the district police said on Thursday.

Experienced exit-entry police officers have started to give lectures to the student volunteers who are taught how to interpret information on a foreign passport and discern different kinds of Chinese visas and residence permits as well as most relevant provisions in China’s exit-entry laws and rulebooks.

Police said such cooperation will be extended after the expo because students who are interns at the hotels and the hotels themselves need to know about the regulations.
