Passenger dies in fall from Metro platform

A woman who was seen trapped between a Metro train door and the platform barrier in Caoyang Road Station shared by Line 3 and 4 yesterday is believed dead, Shanghai Television reported.

Photos and videos posted online appear to show a woman getting stuck between a door of a train and a safety door on a platform.

The Metro operator said on Weibo at 7:08pm that a person had entered the tracks and that trains between Zhongshan Park and Shanghai Railway Station stations were operating at reduced speeds.

At 7:18pm, it was announced that the incident was resolved.

By 7:30pm, operations had returned to normal.

Medical staff told local TV that the woman had died at the scene. A police investigation is under way.
