A 44-year-old local man has been detained for refusing to wear a mask at a Metro station, Shanghai police said on Saturday.
The incident took place at Linping Road Station on Line 4 at 3pm on Friday.
The man was not wearing a mask when he arrived at the security check, insisted on entering and attacked a member of Metro staff, police said.
Police arrived and checked the man's temperature, which was normal.
He was given an unspecified period of administrative detention.
Administrative detention lasts up to 15 days.
