Local CDC lab to cultivate, separate coronavirus strains

The Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention has announced that it has four coronavirus strains in its laboratory after being authorized by the national CDC to conduct coronavirus strain cultivation and separation.

The strains are derived from three samples, it said on Tuesday.

Coronavirus strains can be used for disease research, vaccine development, diagnostic kit studies, anti-virus medicine screenings and disinfectant analysis, experts said.
