At the Chentai Road construction site, workers wearing masks are busy with seamless rail welding. The railway connecting Gucun Park Station and Jinqiu Road Station is expected to be finished within the week.

Metro Line 15 officially resumed railway construction on Wednesday under strict on-site coronavirus prevention measures.

Line 15 will be a key north-to-south link in the city’s transportation network, running across Baoshan, Putuo, Changning, Xuhui and Minhang districts, with 30 stations from Gucun Park to Zizhu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone.

Having been dug through in December, rail construction on the line started last April and is expected to finish in July.

Currently, the northern section of railway from Shanghai West Station to Gucun Park Station has finished construction, accounting for 70 percent of the entire line.

At the Chentai Road construction site connecting Gucun Park Station and Jinqiu Road Station, 90 percent of workers have returned to work so far. Those from outside the city have been put under quarantine for 14 days at designated spots.

Line 15 was among the first batch of projects to restart work on February 10, with a few staff kept on duty to ensure progress during the Spring Festival.

Stringent health measures are currently implemented at the worksite, including temperature monitoring and separate meals to reduce face-to-face contact. Sufficient daily necessities are also provided to safeguard workers' health.
