9 imported coronavirus cases reported in Shanghai
Nine imported cases of coronavirus were reported in the city and other 39 imported suspected cases are undergoing test on Friday, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Saturday morning.
The total number of imported infections in the city has reached 42, the commission said.
Meanwhile, no local new cases were reported. It is the 18th consecutive day that no domestic infections have been reported.
One of the newly diagnosed cases is a Shanghai native, who studied in the UK. The person left London on March 17 and arrived at the Pudong International Airport the next day and was put under quarantine upon arrival.
The second is a Hubei Province native, who studied in France. The person left Paris on March 15 and arrived at the Puong airport the next day via Hong Kong and was put under quarantine.
The third is a Jiangsu Province native, who studied in Switzerland. The person left Geneva on March 18 and arrived at the Pudong airport the next day via Moscow and was put under quarantine.
The fourth is an Anhui Province native, who studied in the UK. The person left London on March 16 and arrived at the Pudong airport the next day via Singapore and was was put under quarantine upon arrival.
The fifth and sixth are a couple, who are both Shanghai natives and lived in the US. They left New York on March 18 and arrived at the Pudong airport the next day and were put under quarantine upon arrival.
The seventh is a French, who lived in France. The person left Paris on March 12 and arrived at the Pudong airport the next day and was put under quarantine.
The eight is a French national, who visited family in France. The person left Paris on March 18 and arrived at the Pudong airport the next day and was put under quarantine.
The ninth is a Shanghai native, who studied in France. The person left Paris on March 18 and arrived at the Pudong airport the next day. The person was sent to a hospital upon arrival for showing symptoms.
All the nine patients have been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment and 75 close contacts on the planes have been tracked down and put under quarantine and observation.
So far, 338 local cases have been confirmed.
There are 51 patients being hospitalized, including 41 imported cases. Forty-two cases are stable, one in serious condition and eight are critical.
TiIll now, 326 patients have been discharged upon recovery and there are three local fatalities so far.
