Japanese singer and songwriter Shinji Tanimura has released a new song, "Flowers in Hearts," to cheer the world's fight against the novel coronavirus.

Japanese singer and songwriter Shinji Tanimura has created a new song, entitled "Flowers in Hearts," to cheer for victory in the global fight against the novel coronavirus.

“Music knows no border or age,” he said in an earlier letter to the Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. “It can connect our hearts. I’m creating a new song. I hope music can help us overcome the hardship together. I’m looking forward to the coming of spring when people’s hearts will be wild with flowers of joy.”

As the lyrics in his new song proclaim: "There is no night that will not end and no love that cannot be passed on. As we’re singing for the spring, we’re striving for tomorrow."

Tanimura had produced a video in February to cheer China’s fight against the virus.

“Let us overcome the difficulties together,” he said in the video. “Keep it up, China! Keep it up, Shanghai! Jiayou!”

He also said in his video that he plans to hold concerts in Beijing and Shanghai this year to celebrate the Sino-Japanese Year of Cultural, Sports Exchange.

Earlier this month, Tanimura received masks donated by the Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and wrote a letter for thanks. In the letter he said he would give out the masks to the audience if his concert series “2020 THE SINGER” could be held between April 3 and 5 in Tokyo and Osaka as scheduled.

Unfortunately, the concerts have to be canceled. But he has sent the song to the association so that fans can enjoy it now.
