Shanghai is blooming with springtime flora and fauna in celebration of the upcoming five-day Labor Day holiday and to add fuel to the Double Five Shopping Festival, the city's greenery authorities said on Thursday.
The city has been spruced up by 197,600 square meters of floral displays with the main flower varieties featured being Chinese crabapple, geranium, morning glory and lupin, the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau said.
About 8.68 million pots of flowers and 82 greenery landscapes are featured throughout the city, the bureau said.

Shanghai's streets have taken on a brand new look with flowers.
Key business areas such as Xujiahui, Jing'an Temple, Lujiazui and Wujiaochang, as well as streets including Huaihai Road, Nanjing Road W., Nanjing Road E., Xizang Road S. and Hongqiao Road have taken on a brand-new look because of floral landscaping, the bureau said.
Flower landscapes also add a splash of color to the Huaimao green land in Huangpu District, Shayan Square in the Pudong New Area, Shanghai South Railway Station in Xuhui District, Bole Road S. in Jiading District and the Friendship Hall of the Shanghai Exhibition Center in Jing'an District, the bureau said.
