Parks across Shanghai had 2.95 million visitors during the Labor Day holiday, about 48 percent fewer than in the same period last year, the city's greenery authorities said.

City parks had about 2.72 million, with 230,000 at countryside parks, the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau said.

Parks that are A-level tourist attractions were ordered to keep numbers at 30 percent of maximum capacity, and measures were in place to prevent gatherings, the bureau said.
