Shanghai Design Week is being staged in a variety of new formats to take account of the coronavirus epidemic.

Normally held at the Shanghai Exhibition Center, this year’s event features immersive exhibitions in the city’s public spaces and outdoor commercial areas plus different forms of livestreaming.

The first of a series of activities is a design competition titled 2020 PRI2DE Creative Camp. Candidates aged below 35 who are working at interior design firms and architecture design firms on the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan can apply through the WeChat account of Shanghai Design Week from June 29 to August 31.

PRI2DE Creative Camp, initiated by HKR International Ltd in 2019, aims to build a platform for the exposure and nurturing of young designers. The main design model is a villa project in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, where candidates are able to use their imagination and creativity to create an ideal residential community.

According to the organizer, the winning design plans will be presented at the 2021 Dubai World Expo.
