Five batches of cosmetics and food products suspected to be overpackaged have been sent for further checks after the city's market watchdog conducted an inspection at the Cloud Nine Shopping Mall in Changning District on Friday.
At Carrefour, a batch of Goldensun cubilose and a batch of ginseng slices made by Hong Fu Loi Group in Guangdong Province are on the suspected list.
At a Sephora outlet, an initial judgment by officials found three batches of cosmetics including two batches of Dior perfume and liquid foundation gift boxes had excessive packaging.
All five are suspected of having too much empty space inside boxes, one of the major criteria in determining excessive packaging, according to China's national standard.
