Video catches woman bashed unconscious, stripped and dragged away

Police have confirmed that a gruesome attack against a woman which was videotaped by a surveillance camera and widely circulated online happened in Dalian in the northeastern Liaoning Province.

Police in Dalian said they received a report on the early morning of June 22. The 29-year-old victim surnamed Wu was beaten on her way home. Investigations are continuing, Dalian police said in an online statement Tuesday.

The one-and-a-half-minute video appeared on the Internet on June 24 and soon went viral. It showed a brutal assault on a woman who was repeatedly beaten and kicked in her head by a man on a street. Her clothes were ripped off and she was dragged away by the man, apparently unconscious.

Police said Wu suffered facial soft tissue damage and was discharged from hospital after treatment.
