Chinese police have solved 2,782 train ticket scalping cases in its latest crackdown campaign ahead of the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on Jan. 25 this year.

More than 23,400 railway tickets and 121,000 counterfeit ones were confiscated since the crackdown was launched in December 2019, the Ministry of Public Security said Thursday.

To curb ticket scalping, police have strengthened patrols at ticket offices and train stations, as well as video inspections and information sharing.

This year's Spring Festival travel season started on Jan. 10 and will last until Feb. 18, with around 440 million trips to be made via railway.
