Henan Province reports first coronavirus case
Central China’s Henan Province confirmed its first imported case of coronavirus-related pneumonia, the province’s health commission said on Tuesday.
The patient is a 66-year-old man from the city of Zhoukou in Henan Province and who works in Wuhan in central China's Hubei Province. He developed symptoms of a fever, chest distress and shortness of breath on December 29.
He returned to Zhoukou for medical treatment on January 7 and was transferred to Zhengzhou, the provincial capital, on January 10. He was put into isolation at a designated hospital on January 20.
He was tested positive to coronavirus by local disease control and prevention authority and later confirmed as a coronavirus case after expert evaluation on January 21.
He is now in a stable condition.
Medical experts advise maintaining indoor sanitation and ventilation, minimizing activities in public places where the air is stagnant or crowded. If coughing or sneezing, people should wear a mask or cover their mouths and noses to reduce the spread of germs. Anyone with a fever or cough should go to hospital immediately.
