Venues where the general public can lodge complaints and proposals to central Party and state institutions will remain closed, China's National Public Complaints and Proposals Administration said Sunday.

The move was taken as the task of preventing COVID-19 rebounds is still arduous in the country, the administration said, asking the public to file complaints or proposals online, by letters or at nearby local reception venues for public complaints.

Explaining the rationale for the decision, the administration cited sporadic cases and cluster infections reported in some regions of China and the increased mobility of people across the country that brings new uncertainties to epidemic control.

Most city- and county-level reception venues for public complaints have reopened as the epidemic waned.
