5.6-magnitude quake rattles central Philippines
A 5.6-magnitude earthquake hit off Occidental Mindoro in the Philippines early Monday, the Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology (Phivolcs) said.
The institute raised the magnitude from a preliminary 5.4 for the quake, which struck at 2:16am local time with the epicenter in the municipality of Looc, Occidental Mindoro, at a depth of 121 kilometers.
The institute said the quake, which was tectonic in origin, will trigger aftershocks.
